Sharp developed a fully automatic washing machine with a water-saving hole-less tub. Eliminating the drain holes in the spin-dry tub not only reduced the use of water and detergent, it also solved the problem of mold growing on the outside of the tub being transferred to the freshly laundered clothing inside.
