Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Sharp Electronics of Canada Ltd., sustainability is integrated into every product we design and every process we refine. Guided by our POWER principles—Practices for Sustainability, Ongoing Environmental Awareness, Waste Reduction, Environmental Regulations Adherence, and Responsibility—we are actively reducing landfill waste, promoting responsible recycling, and advancing a cleaner future.

By choosing Sharp, you support eco-friendly innovation and meaningful contributions to the circular economy.

End-of-Life Electronics Recycling

Sharp Canada partnered with Electronic Products Recycling Association (EPRA) to safely and responsibly recycle end-of-life electronics. EPRA ensures electronics are diverted from landfills and processed in an environmentally sound manner.

Need to recycle large quantities? Sharp and EPRA also offer free pickup services for bulk collections.

Packaging and Paper Recycling

Sharp Canada is a member of Circular Materials, a national not-for-profit producer responsibility organization, to oversee the collection and recycling of packaging and paper waste. This partnership helps ensure that materials are responsibly recovered and reintegrated into the production cycle—supporting a circular economy and reducing environmental impact across Canada.

Toner Cartridge Recycling Program

Sharp Canada provides a free Toner Cartridge Recycling Program that allows customers to return used toner cartridges and containers from Sharp copiers, multifunction printers, and fax machines. This initiative helps divert waste from landfills and supports our zero-waste goals.

Sharp & The Environment

Sharp’s dedication to environmental stewardship is a long standing corporate core value that’s demonstrated in our products and our business activities; it’s not a response to the latest trends.

Sharp’s business philosophy revolves around attaining mutual prosperity with stakeholders by contributing to the culture, benefits, and welfare of people throughout the world. To realize the business philosophy, all employees hold to and follow our business creed, which calls for “Sincerity and Creativity”.

We are proud of the many ways that Sharp is following its business philosophy of “Sincerity and Creativity” by working to fulfill the environmental and societal aspects of its corporate social responsibility.

Global Sustainability Report

Our annual Sharp Sustainability Report outlines our environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives. The 2024 Report details our activities in fiscal 2023 and reaffirms our long-term goals toward a more sustainable society.

Eco-Certifications and Environmental Standards

Sharp products are designed to mee or exceed global environmental standards:

  • EPEAT® Gold: Sharp multifunction copiers and printers are certified for environmental leadership across their lifestyle.
  • ENERGY STAR® 3.0: All Sharp multifunction printers and copiers meet the latest energy efficiency benchmarks.
  • Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Compliance: All products restrict the use of hazardous substances like lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium and flame retardants.

These certifications help reduce carbon emissions and promote a safe, more sustainable office environment.

Electronics Recycling and Stewardship

Sharp Canada supports sustainable end-of-life electronics recycling through partnerships with organizations like Electronic Products Recycling Association (EPRA). Funded by environmental handling fees, these programs ensure safe, responsible recycling. EPRA also operates Recycle My Electronics, offering over 3,150 drop-off locations across Canada.
